Mr. Paul Fessler serves as Chief Nuclear Officer and Senior Vice President of DTE Electric Company (formerly The Detroit Edison Company). Mr. Fessler served as Vice President of Fossil Generation at The Detroit Edison Company, a subsidiary of DTE Energy Co. Mr. Fessler was responsible for the operation of DTE’s fossil-fueled electric power plants, including engineering and capital projects. Previously, Mr. Fessler was general director of Fossil Generation, responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the fossil-fueled power plants. Prior to that, he was director of nuclear operations in the Nuclear Generation Fermi 2 Organization, responsible for all operations at DTE Energy’s nuclear facility. Mr. Fessler also held a variety of leadership positions in engineering, maintenance and training. He is a registered professional engineer. Mr. Fessler is a member of the Engineering Society of Detroit and the American Nuclear Society. He serves on the EPRI Generation Council, the Plymouth United Way fund-raising committee, and is involved in Leadership Michigan. Mr. Fessler served on various boards for the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), where he presented many papers and was selected as sole U.S. representative for International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) missions to review reactor operations for Russian and East German nuclear reactors. He also served on the Safety Review Board for the Fermi 2 and Clinton nuclear power plants. Mr. Fessler has held senior reactor operator licenses for multiple nuclear facilities. Mr. Fessler earned a bachelor of science degree, a master’s of science degree in nuclear engineering and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Michigan.
