Biography

Gary Was researches materials for advanced nuclear energy systems, corrosion, high temperature oxidation, stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen embrittlement, surface modification of materials, radiation effects, ion implantation and ion assisted deposition, and nuclear fuels. Formerly the head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences and also the former Director of the Energy Institute, he is the Director of the Michigan Ion Beam Laboratory.
